WiFi Wireless - Is This For You?

I am sure we have all heard about WiFi Wireless and Hotspots. Some of us may even use WiFi because it is not very expensive to use. If you are familiar with Wireless technology then you may have an idea how it works but to put it into basic words. WiFi works through radio waves just like radio, cell phone and televisions do. It is sort of like a two-way radio communication device. As with just about any other wireless device, it works through a router. The router decodes the signal and sends it through the Internet using an Ethernet connection. Then the process works the opposite to receive information back to you.

If you have even been in a coffee shop and seen people there, browsing or working on the Internet then that may be a hotspot for WiFi Wireless users. WiFi sometimes called 802.11b is widely used but has its limits. The routers are usually limited to certain ranges within that signal area. There are different speeds of WiFi connections and some will be faster than others will. The information uses commonly three different frequencies to transmit as the cell phone does.

You can also create a WiFi Wireless connection that will work from your home system. Anytime you are hooking up to new device whether on your wireless device or home computer you will need to make sure you have the correct system requirements and adapters for your system. Some of the newer computers come with built-in wireless transmitters so be sure you know whether your system is already equipped with this equipment or not. For those systems that do not come with built-in adapters, you can purchase them in the form of a PC Card or USB port adapter or other types of adapters for your computer needs.

Any time you are working from a system that transmits large amounts of information through the Internet, WiFi Wireless and hand held device or desktop computer you will always want to make sure that your information is kept secure. Remember not only do you have personal information stored on your system but also if you have ever given bank card information over the Internet be sure you are dealing with a secured site. Do not store information on your system that you do not want others to see. There are "hackers" out there that have fun seeing how many systems they can breach in a days time. There are those out there who are out the steal your identity so be very careful.
